~> However, in trying to encourage others to violate the rules in ~> my echo you are trying to sabatoge my echo. That is still paranoid nonsense, just as it was every other time you trotted it out. The only people who can sabotage your echo are (a) you and (b) sysops who carry the echo and who don't enforce moderator rulings. The (b) part hasn't been an issue for several years, so that just leaves (a): you. The reciprocity rule was put into place in this echo more than three months ago: "Henceforth, users of this echo will be expected to follow the rules of this echo (not new yet) AND the rules of the echo or echoes that they moderate (that is the new part). This should go without saying, of course. If you put something in your rules, that is an expression of YOUR opinion of how people (including you) should behave. But apparently it doesn't go without saying, so now it is said. If you think personal attacks, for example, are wrong, then don't engage in them yourself." That does not affect your echo in any way. Only YOU can affect your echo. In this instance, you have had the opportunity for the last three months to serve as a role model for posters in fidonet, by following your own rules. But the flip side is that you also have had the opportunity to show yourself to be a hypocrite by not being willing (or able) to follow your own rules. You have repeatedly assured one and all that you always follow the rules of whatever echo you are in. If that is true, then every post you have made in THIS echo since September 8 has been acceptable under the rules of YOUR echo. You have gone BEYOND simply having abstractly-worded rules, to offer your users operational examples of what is permitted in your echo. But if it is not true, then you owe it to your users to specify what you have posted in THIS echo in the last three months that violates YOUR rules. So, Bob, have you broken any of your rules in the last three months? --- Platinum Xpress/Win/WINServer v3.0pr5a* Origin: FidoTel & QWK on the Web! www.fidotel.com (1:124/311) SEEN-BY: 10/1 3 34/999 120/228 123/500 140/1 226/0 249/303 250/306 261/20 38 SEEN-BY: 261/100 1404 1406 1418 266/1413 280/1027 320/119 396/45 633/260 267 SEEN-BY: 712/848 801/161 189 2222/700 2320/100 105 2905/0 @PATH: 124/311 140/1 261/38 633/260 267 |
