Hi, James! Recently you wrote in a message to Ardith Hinton:
JB> Muscles can be a problem for the remainder, and have
JB> a habit of knotting so I've heard.
Trying to get a grasp on the situation there... in other words,
it's different from the usual knotting triggered by muscle strain or nerve
damage??
JB> Mending like a bundle can be the inoperable malady.
Okay, this is where my "why?" reflex kicks in. It's
not clear to me whether you have something like a benign tumour... in which
different types of otherwise functional cells may be jumbled together... or
whether the situation may be complicated by adhesions, scar tissue, lack of
protective padding, etc.
JB> The nerve can be disconnected by drowning it in alcohol.
Uh-huh... the problem doesn't really go away, but you don't care.
I had an experience like that once when I was coming down with the flu....
:-))
JB> Two steps forward... I just refuse the one back. I know
JB> I shouldn't be so hard on myself, but it's just like me.
Seems to me you must be doing something right if you're still
making progress! So... you expect a lot of yourself, you push yourself to
the limit. But if you hadn't done that you probably wouldn't be where you
are now, living independently & gallivanting about in this great land
of ours. As long as you don't feel like a failure whenever you can't beat
yesterday's record, or force yourself to keep going past the point where
you may be risking further damage, I'm not particularly concerned about the
"shoulds".... ;-)
JB> I drove almost all of the way to MB and back. I'm proud

JB> way.
Yes, under the circumstances that's quite an accomplishment.... :-)
JB> Instead I'm pissed at the amount of Aspirin I've been
JB> taking since.
Hmm... do you normally find Aspirin helpful? As a "pain
killer" per se it does nothing for me. As an anti-inflammatory,
however, it seems to work fairly well in certain situations. One example
might be if my neck or my back is misaligned after sleeping in a strange
bed... as you've just done. I think this is probably temporary, at any
rate. You may have overextended yourself a bit. But if you did something
you really wanted to do, it's worth it.... :-)
JB> My best composition to date
So on the whole, the trip was beneficial. I rest my case... [grin].
JB> is still being modified in my brain, but now that it was

Sounds good! And with performing arts you don't necessarily have
to interpret things the same way every time if you don't want to do
that.... :-)
JB> It's amazing the hints we take away from the table,
JB> isn't it?
Uh-huh. Sometimes, for example, people feed the kids first. If
the kids are at an age where they prefer hot dogs to steak & mushrooms
or whatever it makes sense. But I suspect there's an evolutionary
advantage too.... :-))
