-=> Quoting Jahmas to Joe Siegler <=- Ja> Some folks are brewing a tea of hot pepper sauce to repel squirrels Ja> from bird seed. The birds don't care but the squirrels hate it. If you Ja> grow hot peppers in your garden ( I do since I dry them ), dry the Ja> peppers out and then heat them up in a baking sheet in the oven 325 Ja> degrees for like 5 min. Roll the peppers with a rolling pin in a zip Ja> lock bag and then put the grounds in a coffee percolator. Recycle the Ja> water through the pepper grinds until you have a thick tea. Here you Ja> have a natural repellant that most domestic animals will find Ja> offensive. Makes a nice Tabasco substitute for chile recipes too :) Hi Jim, Do you actually put the tea mixture in the seed? This sounds like a good trick to get rid of some of the squirrels that are constantly annoying the birds around here. We don't grow the peppers, but buying a few to try it out sounds good to me.
