subject: fmail 1.48

ml> i haven't found it so i'm asking... is there any way to have fmail
ml> 1.48 automatically add areas being fed from an uplink instead of
ml> them going into badmail and then having to manually run setup to
ml> manualy configure the areas with a final run to retoss the posts
ml> from the badmail area into the proper area??

ml> it would be so much easier if i could just flip a switch on the
ml> feed's record to automaticall add the areas with defaults and
 ml> boogie on...

WvV> You will have to upgrade to atleast the 1.60 version:

hummm...

 WvV> NEW FEATURES IN 1.60
 WvV> ====================
 WvV> ...
WvV> - FTOOLS ADDNEW function has been added. If you run this command
WvV> after new areas have been received (FMail Toss), these areas
WvV> will be added to FMAIL.AR (using the defaults you set on the
WvV> AreaMgr defaults page in FSetup). After that, you can run FMAIL
WvV> TOSS /B to retoss the bad messages. You can detect the arrival
WvV> of new areas by testing from your batch file whether or not
WvV> FMAIL.BDE exists in the FMail directory.

i already do this detection and then fire up the setup program to manually
add the areas...

WvV> If you add the switch /A, the files that are normally updated by
WvV> FSetup's AutoUpdate feature, will also be updated by FTools
 WvV> AddNew. ...

thank you for the information... i will consider if i really want to
upgrade to 1.60...
