Hello John!
Thursday July 25 1996, John Allen babbled to Bonnie Goodwin:
-> Perhaps we have reached a point where a Car Audio Echo has become
a
-> requirement in order to keep our conversations interesting and restricted
-> to subjects that will actually be of interest and educational to
-> participants all around the world.
As I stated a few times, there is/was one in the works. The request expired
and I don't know if he asked for an extension.
-> If Car Audio remains, at the traffic levels and VOLUME we have
-> recently seen, we will be chasing away the very people that we wish to
keep
-> as regular participants.
There is nothing that those of us type that keeps everyone else from posting
messages regarding different areas of audio.
-> The reason that Echos like Audio will continue despite the
Internet
-> is that the Newsgroups on the Internet are not Moderated, and you have to
-> read through 9 miles of off topic JUNK, insults, noise, arguements and
-> nonsense before finding something on topic. With the increase in Car
udio
-> Traffic in the Audio Echo of late, I get the same feeling when browsing
the
-> base and have all but quit reading anything.
It's sad that closed-mindedness is rampant.
-> High End Audio and Car Audio have no more in common than the
-> word "audio".
You are VERY narrow-minded.
-> There are different goals, different equipment, different
-> environment, and VERY different people with very different attituides
-> and very different regard for other people. They cannot reside in the
-> same place peacefully.
There are different applications, equipment, environment, and goals. But
there are other things in common with those of us who like a clean system.
Your stereotyping is outrageous. Not everyone wants to annoy those in the
car next to them. Not everyone wants a system that'll do 140 db plus. Not
everyone with a car stereo has an attitude. And your statement on the last
line above is absolutely hilarious. I had an engineer tell me today that my
car stereo was exceptionally clean.
-> So what do we need to do? * Car Audio Echo for those so
-> inclined?
Take a deep breath and T-H-I-N-K.
-> *High End Home Audio Echo for the Old Guard? Rewrite the Audio Echo
-> rules and let Car Audio fend for itself?
The ext key works wonders, John.
-> But don't dispair, Bonnie. One thing I learned in all the years
f
-> combat was that, "there is no problem so great, that it cannot be
esolved
-> with large quantities of high explosives.
I hate to think that there are so many in here who wish to target anyone
involved in car audio and treat them like a bunch of kids. Rick McSorely
mixed Kiss and Alice in Chains recently and the RTA read 118 db at the FOH
console. Why is that amount of volume acceptable but not in a car?
I've seen some really interesting messages in here regarding technical
aspects.
I've also seen things that were helpful in all areas. I've enjoyed sharing
what little experience I have in Live Audio and reading what others have done
with it. That's something that interests me alot more than car audio.
Since I'm one who participated in the posts regarding car audio I have an
attitude and a different regard for other people. John, I wish I knew myself
as good as you do.
I've also made every attempt I could to emphasize that I'm much more
interested in quality than "bumping" but since I have a stereo in my car it
doesn't make a damn. I'm labeled a "flapper" like everyone else in here who
has over 15 watts per channel. You'd think that some of you with the
technical knowledge would try to cooperate with those in here who are lacking
in that department. All it takes is being diplomatic. But after reading
this message I don't think I'll see much of that at all.
