Is it safe to assume by this message that you "didn't" follow the
instructions for scanning for viruses?
Rule number 1...
Boot from a clean write-protected floppy.
In most cases this would not involve loading memory managers etc, just a
simple plain dos boot to a prompt. This isn't to say that your boot disk
can't
have a memory manager installed during the boot, but normally speaking people
who take the time to make a boot disk don't bother installing memory managers
on the floppy.
You might want to try this before giving up.
