Americans have much to regret and be ashamed of right here in
our own country, yes. 

From my perspective the WWII veterans tend to have a monopoly
on pure greed for greed's own sake. Boomers (what I am) are
guilty of conspicuous consumption (waste) - we are the
throwaway society. Gen Xers (my children) are just overwhelmed
by the knowledge they have to fight their own parents and
grandparents for every scrap. After that they seem oblivious to
what they need and think they can just wait for all of us to
die?
