BG> Incidentally, I had my first failed connect with his Courier this morning -
BG> a 28800 MNP connect was negotiated, then the modem immediately dropped
BG> carrier. Called again, got another 28800 MNP connect, and the mail
BG> transferred OK that time. Most people would blame the modems, but not me.
BG> Not this time. I'm not forcing MNP here, so Paul has apparently been
BG> playing around with his Courier's S27 register, something that should be
BG> left well alone unless one knows exactly what they're doing. And I'm
BG> convinced that Paul doesn't, I'm afraid.
PE> That is correct, I changed S27 to 48 as directed in AUST_MODEMS.
BG> ^^^^^^^^
BG> Tell me, do you always do as you're told, without first understanding the
BG> consequences? Nice register to be fucking around with, too.
He told me to try S27=32 and S2=48. I looked at the first one and
said "get fucked". The second one I thought I would test. I am
happy to do tests as requested within reason. I wasn't happy to
attempt a US code load though. If there is just a S register I
need to fix up this stupid modem, then I don't want to hear months
after I ditched the modem "Oh, you never tried Sxx=1" or something.
What I CAN say is that when I had my modem, no-one had any useful
suggestion that worked to fix my modem.
PE> All that did was show up another bug in the Courier. Nay, TWO bugs now
PE> that you've added that you had a failed call.
BG> Nope, I simply have no faith in you getting it right, that's all.
You have no faith in my ability to go S27=48? Coming from
someone with as much egg on their face as you, that is rich.
BFN. Paul.
