As one of the INS's finest, your opinion is very-much wanted:
There was big hype in our local (Southern California) news about the
recent law-change in Mexico that allows people born THERE but living
HERE to declare "dual nationality" status... I know here in the USA
(RIGHTLY so!!!) we do NOT recognize dual citizenship (citizenship and
nationality are 2 different things, but it is still suspicious). It
stinks & I think the Mexican gov't is sanctioning/encouraging abuse
of the USA in order to line its own pockets!
I'm wondering if there is any concern among your ranks that this
ruling will encourage MORE Mexican nationals to illegally enter the
USA? I, personally, see it as a way for Mexico to legally encourage
THEIR citizenry to illegally sneak into the USA, make American
wage$, and maintain their active connection to Mexico (vis a vis,
taking all their wages back to Mexico) and propping up the Mexican
economy (it's bad enough that many, if not MOST, illegals come here
and collect welfare, Medicaid, food stamps, educational & other
benefits -- but it adds more insult to that injury when they take
their countless millions back to Mexico to spend it THERE rather
than spending it here, where it could help offset what they have
leeched from us...)
Now Mexican nationals have a "legal easy-out" that encourages them
to save their greenbacks for their return visits as newly-declared
"dual nationals" & continue to drain the USA of assets & benefits,
but NOT give anything in return... Yup... it stinks...
So, do you & your INS fellows have an opinion?
