1237ceed3b31 tech Hello Roy - CA>> Went there using Opera v3.62 under W31 and the page CA>> wouldn't finish loading. RJT> That was the other thing it did for me. CA>> Using Netscape v4.08 the text is as described with lighter CA>> blue on a blue background. Using IEx v6 or Mozilla v1.3 I CA>> see either white text on a purple background or blue text CA>> on a white background. RJT> One particular browser on the w98 box, I can't recall now RJT> if it was IE or Netscape, had an option in there to allow RJT> you to use your own colors, rather than taking what the RJT> web page was trying to dish out. I can see where something RJT> like that would be useful here. Probably Netscape but the thing is it would affect all other websites and guessing what colors to 'change' would vary from website to website. In a pinch when it's absolutely necessary to be able to read the webpage I guess it could be 'handy'? CA>> Looking at the source code for the page it has more CA>> javascripting than HTML code. The most javascript I think CA>> I've ever seen on one page. The problem with the CA>> never-ending loading for Opera is the javascripting. RJT> That's probably got something to do with me having RJT> problems with it, then. I tried one page that my ISP had RJT> up, where I was supposed to be able to view account RJT> information. I got an empty frame instead. I called tech RJT> support, and ended up firing up the w98 box to see it RJT> there, and could. Was told that the page involved some RJT> javascript stuff, so I apparently have an issue with that RJT> under linux that needs to be resolved. There are multiple versions of javascripting. Early Netscape won't do all the newer javascripting. This is one of the reasons I generally don't use any javascript for my webpages. CA>> The problem of blue on blue coloring is the extensive use CA>> of CSS (Cascading Style Sheets) which isn't very CA>> standardized across browser platforms with only something CA>> like 4 or 5 CSS keywords being recognized by all browsers. RJT> I've seen people complain about them before. Odd thing (to me) is that so many insist on using it anyhow. CA>> I don't care much for the CSS coding, never did. I don't CA>> even agree with the 'concept' of using CSS but young CA>> webdesigners seem to think it's the best of the best and CA>> won't drop it no matter what. RJT> This is supposed to be _business_, so I guess they'll RJT> learn. Even if they have to do it the hard way. It's supposed to be a 'shortcut' for making changes but with different page layouts just blindly changing font sizes or colors could produce questionable results since everything on the webpage is unattached and will 'slide' around when pushed by larger fonts etc. It would probably work OK if you had one template and used it for all of the pages but not many do that from what I have seen. > > , , > o/ Charles.Angelich \o , > __o/ > / > USA, MI < \ __\__ ___ * ATP/16bit 2.31 * ...
