Hi Bob. Two years ago I was about to sale my touring bike. It is a Velosport 
alpin that came all equiped with racks and fenders. I had it for years and 
never used it. A friend of mine was about to purchase it for $300 when I 
realized that I would like to go touring. I had the panniers so I realized 
that if I ever wanted to tour I would have to buy all that equipment again 
and it would cost a fortune. So I'm happy to say that I kept the bike and 
even went on a bunch of trips. The bike is heavy, but when loaded all bikes 
would be.
