Wel, it's the mirror universe first discovered by Kirk, and regular crew, in 
the episode Mirror Mirror, where there is a parallel universe, but somewhat 
different, where good characters are bad, and so on,
In fact the most recent DS9 episode, before the one with the geniusus being 
helped by Bashir, featured an alternate Kira and Berial(Sp?)
