That last vitriolic response to Richard Meic moves me to write this.
Mission Statement

As you may know, I am the "moderator" of this echo.  I place the word in 
quotes because that is the title used in the Zone 1 echolist to signify the 
person who has a recognized authority to influence (moderate) the content of 
the echo.
I view my role as more of a "caretaker".  I hold the password to the echo, 
and update the listing so that it might not expire from the echo backbone(s). 
 I do not care to regulate the contents of the echo.  Yes, I do have a 
minimal set of "rules" for the echo:
[0]  All messages must be about philosophy, and
[1]  See Rule Zero.
These rules are intentionally vague.  They are not designed to be used as 
justification for a feed cut (or other moderatorial activity).  Their 
importance lies in what they do NOT say - I do not prohibit "profanity", or 
aliases (obviously), or PGP signatures, or non-english languages, or being an 
asshole, or a number of other trivial things that some moderators like to 
squelch.
Some moderators are control freaks.  I'm the opposite.  I regard "authority" 
as irrelevent unless the so-called authority has power to back up its whims.  
If power exists (as it does in the case of echo moderators), then it must be 
placed in the hands of those who are not inclined to use that power.  Due to 
circumstances, I had the opportunity to install myself as such a counter 
authority, and I did so.  All hail the Lords of Chaos.
If You Don't Like It

If you are unhappy with this situation, too bad.
Your options, as I see them, are the following:
[1]  Leave the echo for greener pastures.
[2]  Stay in the echo and whine about it.
[3]  Stay in the echo and get over it.
I recommend #3.  Option #2 might feel good (as you vent your feelings) but is 
not likely to sway me.  Option #1 I like the least.  Please stay, and see if 
you can overcome whatever emotional problems you might be having.
