I agree, and that's why I would also tend to be against the idea at this time
among other reasons. We don't have the resources to create all new things
for blind people such as schools, rehab agencies, centers Etc. just because
the ones that exist aren't doing a good job. Our place is to reform the
existing structure in whatever ways possible.
I am going to tell you a story; sorry if this is a bit off topic, but I think
I met you in 1984 and 1987. I remember us sitting at the bar in the Phoenix
Hyatt-regency in 1984 and if you are the same person I am thinking of, you
told me a story about how the singer Marty Robbins helped out someone in your
family when they desperately needed help and refused to accept any form of
payback. He has always been one of my favorite singers and it is sad that we
have lost him. I don't know why he got into that egosentrick style of
performing the last couple of years of his life touting how wonderful he was,
but it is great to know that he was such a humanitarian.
