It was Bill, not me, who was claiming that this behaviour was
necessary in order to conform to the Hayes spec.  Please address
your question to him.  Apparently the Hayes spec says that an
ATZ MUST restore all registers, including undocumented ones, and
the modem is then NOT allowed to autobaud after doing that either,
so the USR has no choice.  Then again, Bill could be talking out
of his arse as usual.  BFN.  Paul.
