When mix-matching old parts, I like to have as few variables as possible.
In a word, don't do THAT.
If you MUST tie-wrap wires to get them out of the way, do it correctly and
avoid later problems and 'suprises'.
Get a round 'form', somewhere from the size of a pencil to a broomstick.
First wrap your flat cable around the 'form' so that there is _NO_ overlap.
Remove the 'form', maintain the shape of the wrap, then press the cable
flat. Note that all the wires of the cable now cross each other at right
angles. At this point, you CAN fold the cable and tie wrap it, as all the
folds AGAIN cross at right angles, no crosstalk and no suprises!
Good luck... M.
