subject: Car Audio et al.

Perhaps we have reached a point where a Car Audio Echo has become a
requirement in order to keep our conversations interesting and restricted to
subjects that will actually be of interest and educational to participants
all around the world.
As you have cautioned several times, what we intimate here is seen by
many people from many different walks of life, all over the world. We even
have a following in Russia now! I communicate with one gentleman via E-Mail
who advised that a PC in one of the few High End Audio stores near Moscow
either keeps updated printouts of our Audio Echo or actually has it available
for customers to browse. And.....what we discuss here, and have been for over
a year has quite a following there. This gentleman quoted messages from
months ago about speaker placement and room sound conditioning, etc.& which
the employees of the store quote to customers as if handed down from God.
If Car Audio remains, at the traffic levels and VOLUME we have
recently seen, we will be chasing away the very people that we wish to keep
as regular participants. Most of us whom are learning and trying their hands
at high end audio could really give two hoots about anything to do with car
audio, and find the message base on such to be at total odds with we are
interested in about Audio..."QUALITY". Not to mention finding many of the
messages offensive, juvenile and "LOUD".
The reason that Echos like Audio will continue despite the Internet
is that the Newsgroups on the Internet are not Moderated, and you have to
read through 9 miles of off topic JUNK, insults, noise, arguements and
nonsense before finding something on topic. With the increase in Car Audio
Traffic in the Audio Echo of late, I get the same feeling when browsing the
base and have all but quit reading anything.
High End Audio and Car Audio have no more in common than the word
"audio". There are different goals, different equipment, different
environment, and VERY different people with very different attituides and
very different regard for other people. They cannot reside in the same place
peacefully.
So what do we need to do? * Car Audio Echo for those so inclined?
*High End Home Audio Echo for the Old Guard? Rewrite the Audio Echo rules
and let Car Audio fend for itself?
But don't dispair, Bonnie. One thing I learned in all the years of
combat was that, "there is no problem so great, that it cannot be resolved
with large quantities of high explosives.
If you need something for the next few days I will be down by the
fire station having the flames put out. I'll be the one surrounded by angry
people with excessively loud car audio systems that shake and upset everyone
within a square mile.
        Cheers, John
