If you want to get any of the big in-house specialized software systems,
you gotta be able to be ported to.  millions of lines of code are just too
much to start from scratch with. Even our trivial 5 million lines of code
couldn't be rewritten in less than a year with a big programming staff,
much less one person. (me )
