Yes.  Technically one does not record to a DVD.  Prerecorded data is burned
into them in a mass-production process.  One can record to a DVD-R however
- just once.  To erase and reuse, you need a DVD-RW - a special type of
disk, costs more, and doesn't last long if frequently erased and
re-recorded.  Bob of course will insist that all three types are covered by
his use of the term "DVD."
