You might try adding S191=124 to your modem init string and retesting.
That will sometimes get the modem to connect at a faster speed.  
That being said, although you may connect at a higher speed, if the
phone lines are not of sufficient quality, the actual throughput may
drop when connected faster since there will be increased errors and
resends of data lowering the overall performance.

Not in the modem you have.  The domestic SupraExpress series modems
do not have NVRAM for storing profiles.
