subject: How to....

Hi Will,
PK> MS seems to have added this lovely trick of allowing
PK> servers to "hide" resources by adding a $ after the name of
PK> the resource, to NT4 (and probably earlier). Other WIN
PK> versions have no trouble allowing the user to connect to
PK> the "hidden" resource, but Warp 3 does not seem to allow
PK> the $ sign to be used in the resource name. Does anyone
PK> know of a way around this "limitation" that means Warp 3+
PK> clients can connect to these resources?...........pk.
WH> That's not a Microsoft trick - Warp does it, too.
As I subsequently found.....;-) I had problems with it on a machine running
Fixpak 16, but have since found that Fixpack 29 seems to be ok. The "trick"
is that the resource is not browsable, BUT if you know it you can type the
resoucename explicitly and the connection is built and shows in the
connecting and sharing folder ok, at least between consenting Warp
machine...;-) Now to try it with the actual NT share and see how it goes.
Thanks......pk.
