The mirrior universe is sort of an alternate universe.  It was first 
discovered in DS9 by Kira and Bashir while flying through the wormhole.  In 
the mirror universe, everyone plays different parts.  There is an alliance 
formed from the Klingons and Cardassians...and there is no federation. 
Instead humans are called terrans and are treated like slaves.  The Bajoran 
people are currently at war with the alliance.
