subject: new used revolver!

Hi Dave, guess what I just plunked down $250 for. A used, but good
condition Dan Wesson .357 with a 6" barrel! I'd been thinking about
going the Dan Wesson route for some time, wondering if I could still find
a .357max revolver by any stroke of luck. Well, I saw this thing in a
corner, and this was about the least amount of time I had spent deciding
whether or not to buy a gun!
I'd have still liked a full underlug and rented rib like on the Taurus
669, but I think you can get a full underlug shround for the Wesson's
barrel. And of course, different barrels. Truthfully, the 6" it came
with would not have been my first choice since I've got interchangable
barrels. I'd've preferred an 8" first, and a 4" later, but I'll just
have to live with this one, and get a 10" later. :-) That's going to
be a honkin long barrel... :-)
It's a got a real sweet single action release, and a very smooth and
relatively light DA trigger. Pachmires on the gun but it also has the
origional wooden set with it.
So, what's the detailed scoop on Dan Wessons? I assume they are pretty
tough. I know that the GP-100 is generally considered the strongest of
revolvers in .357, how does the Wesson rate?
Ben will probably choke on his dinner when he finds out I actually bought
a wheelgun. That taurus .22 revolver really turned me around a bit
though, it's such a riot to shoot, except for the more accurate target
quality semi-autos, I can't imagine why anyone would want a semi-auto .22
over a 9 shot revolver. Starting to sound like an old f@rt, huh? :-)
I forget, do you shoot .357? Care to drop any advice my way? I'm
planning on getting a set of Lee dies and a roll crimp as soon as I can
find my Midway catalog. I also want to get a box of 110gr XTP's, and
something substantially heavier, maybe even up to a 180gr XTP. Maybe
some 140gr's. And the gs I'm getting it from has copper plated 148gr
HBWC's in bulk, so I'm pretty well set on those.
