Whether the feds were actively involved in these bombings or not, they 
have certainly taken advantage of them to expand their police powers. 
There is evidence that they might have known about the World Trade 
Center bombing ahead of time. Whether they simply let it go ahead, 
screwed up a sting operation or were oblivious to the implications of 
what was going on, they certainly played it for everything it was worth 
*after* the fact.

Again, they're using the issue to get more funding for BATF. People on 
the Hill were actually talking about abolishing BATF. This issue gave 
them a new lease on life. Interestingly, they almost manufactured this 
"crisis" out of whole cloth. There is no sudden rash of church burnings. 
In fact, according to an op-ed piece in last week's Washington Post, 
church burnings are *down* over the last ten yers.
