All I can think of is some sort of CR/LF bug... I wrote my editor and it
doesn't do that... honest!  :-)

Synchronet is usually set up with a guest user though so would qualify as
"public" (just doesn't offer feeds)

Synchronet also comes with a web server out of the box which includes all the
message areas... in fact, there's no way to prevent a specific area from being
available online (though you can, of course, require a login for certain ones).
