Well, my old "after keying all the cars in the lot, said this to " was
getting kind of old. Actually, I need to create one specific to this echo.
Say, something like:
"while racing the downhill course with one hand behind their back,..."
Or
"after JUMPING all the cars in the lot..."
:)
>>>> Bill Babbled to Richard Glazer while partially drunk<<<
Hmmm... Is this to suggest a drinking problem on my part?
BA>> These brakes are smooth... First thing I noticed once on the

WB> I have never felt anything other than a smooth feel with cable brakes.
WB> I think if you keep your cables in reasonably good condition, you

Thanks for the tip. But if you ever try a pair of these, you will immediately
know what I refer to when I say "cable drag" Hell, I even had teflon coated
cables in clean cable housings filled/covered with White-Lighning (liquid of
the gods) and there is QUITE a noticable difference between the two.
nestly.
BA>> On the down side, though, they are expensive as compared

WB> Whats the going rate on those babies? I don't think they are too much
WB> more than V-Brakes are they?
There are a few different models avalable, Bike Nashbar list the "classic"
model for $198.50 (+S&H), and the Racelines (Standard yellow) for $258.95
(+S&H), The Raceline "D" (downhill only model is usually slighly higher),
and I have seen the Tomacs list for about $279 in other cataloges. I got
mine (Tomacs) installed for $290. Compared to the "true" VBrakes (the ones
with the parallel push mechanism) I think some of these models are
comapartively priced.
But, there are too many of the 'cheapo' Vbrakes out there that are no more
than a canti with the Vbrake pads and Vbrake side pull, requiring a Vbrake
compatible lever. :(
WB> I think I still prefer the V-Brakes.
Have you had the opportunity to ride the hydros?
WB> Plus I like to support Shimano. I think they are a good company,
WB> making great products. I will always have shimano components and
WB> shimano components only on my bike. There is yet to be any reason to
WB> switch--XTR stuff is simply the best stuff you can buy.
I think that Shimano can make some quality parts, but their stuff can be
overpriced. (my opinion) Since they are leaders in the industry, it is quite
easy for them to 'name their price' and all the "gotta-have-it-geeks" like me
and you will put up and put out for it. :)
WB> ... ... My computer has cables... So why can't I get HBO?
The only cables on my bike are the ones attached to my CD player and my
headphones... (Oh yea, almost forgot... and my shifters )
