SK>I don't know about comparing the public and catholic schools. Clearly

There are actually 2 issues here - removing a problem child from the
classroom and expelling a student permanently. I am in favor of a
teacher being able to remove a student from the classroom for a
period of time (3 to 5 days?) for repeated offenses. Currently we
do not have that right, though our state legislature is considering
such a law this year.
The right to expel a student from a school does not rightly belong
to a teacher, but is not even an option for a public school for
children under the age of 16 (now 17 in NY). Private schools can
accept/reject/expel students without restriction.
