As much as I like the idea of portability,  I've been very much put off by
what I've seen out there for laptops...

Absurdly low run times,  all proprietary hardware,  and limited
expandability so you better get what features you want when you buy it in
the first place.

I think I'll still wait a while before I go ahead and get one.  :-)
