Hi Wanda,

My electric stove has a light in the oven that I can either turn on/off or
comes on when I open the door, so you can see whatever is in the oven better.
I don't know if any of the gas stoves have this feature on not. The heat
generated by the pilot light for the broiler might be enough to use for
drying purposes.

No! this was for decorating purposes, which is what I thought you were
talking about. I didn't even think about the possibility of using them for
food, guess that was because I'd never heard of dried orange slices for food.
Anyway, I think any water based sealer would work, varnish, polyurethane,

If you slice the apples side to side you will get some that are heart-shaped,
and some that are round. If you slice them top to bottom, they will all be
round.
WG > Thanks for the help and encouragement.
You're more than welcome, anytime
