FWIW, I did learn from others here that there are actually two ways of
doing it -- one by using the Expert settings in the phonebook, the other
by copying a duplicate connect device for the same modem, allowing you
to modify that and several other settings.

I have not had any luck with that high a setting in the past -- seems to
exceed what my phone lines can handle and I ended up getting garbage
characters, etc. I haven't tried it with TFW, however, and may do so
just to see what happens.

The sysop recently switched modems, which corrected the problem. So I
can connect everywhere easily now, with my port speed set at 57,600.
But it is good to know of a way I can customize that if necessary in the
future.

I like TFW pretty well and think I'll probably end up registering it.
It's certainly a lot better than "RapidComm", the program that USR
supplied with my modem.
