No it isn't - we dont really wat a re-intall at all, and certainly don't want our systems reduced to 'as new ' condition. We just want to fix strange behaviour we cant explain - like the 'delete' option missing from WPS objects we don't want, and other inaccessible system admin data that has probably tow or three bits wrong, but is non-obvious and docs dont explain it. ANd most of all, because we have replaced a bit of hardware with a similar but slightly different bit. and the system has become radically confused. Eg we booted with the external CD drive powered off, and then tried to access it, thus turning our CD Icon into a 'missing link' icon. Restoring power and rebooting won't fix this ... so a tiny careless mistake becomes a total loss of usability. Maybe IBM need to by a whole lot more of those signs that say 'THINK'. Andrew ...
