What the modem looks at and what it reports as part of the connect message if 
Q)uiet mode is off and V)erbose mode is on.  The table is lengthy but in 
result codes X1 adds "Connect 1200 (and many other speeds)", X2 adds "No Dial 
Tone", X3 adds "Busy" and "No Answer".  There are other differences as well, 
it would be best to refer to your manual appendices for details on your 
specific modem.
