Stephen was hit by a Randy Johnson fastball for uttering:
SF> Where did you get this info? I hadn't heard that, and personally, I
SF> don't think it will happen. TBS is cash cow for whoever owns it and will
SF> stand to lose too much money if they lose superstation status.
I got this straight from the horse's mouth. Look, just because YOU didn't
hear it doesn't mean that it's true. WTBS is under the Time-Warner umbrella
and Time-Warner, NOT Ted Turner, made this decision.
SF> The Braves are already going to have to pay big bucks to the revenue
SF> sharing, and to lose millions and millions more to this...It ain't
SF> gonna happen. If it does, then we know why Ted Turner keeps hiring
SF> idiots for his front office.
1. The Braves will get their $$$ from the organization, whether they play on
WTBS or not.
2. They will lose NOTHING. WTBS won't be hurting because they have enough in
their film vault to more than compensate for the loss of the Braves. The only
ones who lose are the Braves' fans.
3. Ted Turner has less of a say these days. People think that he's still the
owner of the Hawks but his stake is a minority stake (If you look at the
Hawks' structure, you'll see the Turner is only a board member and that J.
Michael Gearon is the Chairman and NOT Turner). While he's still top dog in
the Braves' organization, he is less of a force in the alliance created when
Time-Warner and Turner merged.
As for the crack about the idiots in the front office -- you're so far off
that it's not funny. If it wasn't for those *idiots*, Atlanta would still be
the bush league organization that they turned into in the mid-80s.
