Can't say I have ever experienced a downhill on a tandem.  (tandem?)
But it sounds fun! :)  I do not support shimano simply because they are
dominant in the market--I think they have a bunch of great people there
making huge technological leaps in terms of weight/durability/function
of all their products.  I do not mind a huge company that dominates the
market as long as they continue to produce products of such high quality.
