Yes, about 25% of my servers are running NT4, as to why, because it's
licensed, it's paid for, and it works.. I'm slowly moving them to
W2K but a few of the machines are older hardware so it requires a hardware
upgrade to move them so I'm only doing that as needed.

> You run XP on any servers? If not, why not?

No. It's the licensing that's the problem.

"Windows Server 2003 use rights are no longer triggered by Windows
Authenticated Services or Windows Server Services. Instead, the use or
access by a user other than an anonymous Internet User OR other than the
use of Windows solely as the platform of a server application will require
the Windows (Authenticated) Processor License."

so lets say I have a W2K web server with IIS, ASP, and a third party FTP
server running. I don't need CALs for each user who has a site on the
server because I don't use the NT user database to authenticate anyone.
With 2003, that's no longer true, because ftp users have a login they are
not considered anonymouse internet users anymore.

Got vasoline?

Geo.
