The main thing in my opinion, conccerning the Big 3 sports you mentioned is
that they have a past, which is followed and compared to, with long-standing
records and accomplishments. Not that the other sports are boring (rugby is
far from it) but they have a limited scope, and are therefore not watched by
the large majority of fans! Soccer may be changing, but with low scoring
contests and many different leagues and World organizations, it is somewhat
hard to follow a team, let alone individuals.
Shoot I like watching the volleyball and table-tennis matches at times but
it's hard to get excited about the season coming up like Baseball for
instance. It's the tradition of the sports that make them great, and
somethign that changes slowly.
