subject: HOME THEATER

In the discussions on AC-3 and Home Theater that I've read in
here, quite a few have dealt with the problem of your ears
knowing where the bass is emanating from, especially if there
is a subwoofer located to the side or towards the rear of the
listening area.
As one who is just starting to properly set up my home theater,
I am somewhat concerned about this. Being familiar with speaker
building, I am looking at various designs to add a subwoofer to
my system, but would like it "invisible".
Has anyone had experience or read any reports or information
on using BandPass enclosures in a home stereo/theater application?
I do know that the Bose (Ugh) system is based on this, and does
work rather well. Although it could be vastly improved.
From my experience, I am thinking that the BandPass design would
be more "invisible" than a conventional sealed or ported enclosure,
although I have not built any for home use.
  Any thoughts or comments?

Thanks, Mike
