I take it you have not seen a 95 reinstall, which has to be done
to correct the registry as well. Complete reinstall, wipes out
the desktop as well. At least the OS/2 install does not.
From a support standpoint, binary INI files provide less
problems than ASCII INI files. However MS blundered in that
regard by letting anyone into it. And understanding their
policies to try and control it has been a researching nightmare
of conflicting statements, hit and miss procedures.
There are good points and bad points to this type of INI file.
Only problems I have are with those that place their information
into the user.ini instead of thier own. After time, the INI
becomes bloated and overall performance can suffer unless its
cleaned out.
