Hi Geo.,
For reasons unknown to Geo. said thus to Gaylen.Hintz:
>> Secondly, would changing the page memory help?
G> The problem is it's dos emulation and dos programs were not written to
G> share the cpu. So it's likely there is a tight loop in the dos program
G> that is doing something like constantly poling for input or something
Ok, I was afraid it might be something like that. I did manage to speed it
up a bit by playing around with the pif settings for number of buffers and the
size of the buffers but it's only marginally faster but every little bit helps
eh? :)
G> and it's sucking up all the cpu. You can possibly make it fire off the
G> dos app with the "start" command and use the /LOW switch to set it's
G> priority to low. (type START /? for instructions)
ewww... that would be really hard with a bbs dude.... especially one that
is windows native but calls in those old DOS doorgames and stuff.
G> Other than that, the dos program controls in NT are pretty limited.
understood and thanks a million for the help, it put me on the right
track and though it's not where I want it to be yet, it has improved a
bit. :)
Cya!
Just when I get the hang of Thursday they re-riioute a Superhighway.
