Hello, Really, consider investing in an inexpensive dehydrater. The dried apples taste sooooo good and they dry in hours - not days or months so they don't mold. Soaking them in vitamin C is supposed to act as a whitener and a preservative. I guess you could shellac or polyurethane the ones used for decorative purposes. Good luck.
