aycasting..
DOOM is kinda 3d. Its map has x and z co-ordinates, and each sector has a
height. The engine rotates in 2 dimensions around the z axis, and does the
usual 3d->2d transforms..
Now Quake and Descent are in 3-dimensions all the way!
