Howdy folks, 
 
        having gotten to the bottom of a perplexing mess 
        regarding the echo, I didscovered that my sysops netmail 
        scanning has been totally uckfayed for the last two 
        months, which explains why we kept getting notices re- 
        being dropped from the backbone even though I was 
        repeatedly taking care of the administrivia. 
 
        Anyway, it's been fixed now that I've pointed it out to 
        him and all should be well. 
 
        Those of you to whom I had written netmail, I won't 
        bother to resend copies, y'all know what's up. 
 
        But in the meantime, the only official pronouncement is 
        that Billy Joel and Elton John are off topic until at 
        least Sept 1997. So are Engelbert Humperdinck and Perry 
        Como. However, you may talk about Tom Jones since he did 
        that tune with Art of Noise. 
 
        In the meantime, do people want me to post the issues of 
        Gibraltar as they come out?
