My original post mentioned that much of my testing was with a 16.8Kbps
ZyXel protocol. Shortly after I upgraded to 1.11, Zyxel upgraded their
own system to v.34 (they had U1496 on the tech support line).
Now, if you think a minute, I am obviously NOT comparing v.34, since the
U1496 can't do v34. The U1496 seems to do better on v.32/v.32bis connects
also, but nothing was as obvious as calling the tech support BBS since it
always connected ZyX16.8K and the Elite would just sit there with the SQ
flashing telling me the line was noisy, and I'd call right back on the
U1496E+ and everything would be perfect (SQ wouldn't flash at all).
I probably spent a bit of money calling the tech support BBS over and over
 and over.
What ever happened to CELP mode? Is it gone in the Elite?
