That sounds about right.  In my particular situation we're talking
$5000-$10000 systems.  I can't nearly afford that by  any stretch of the
imagination but I shop around all sorts of weird places looking for ways to
bring that figure down dramatically.  I've heard rumours that NASA has been
more or less doing the same thing as me.  I feel I am in good company. 
Mind you I haven't had to suffer the fallout that they do as others don't
have to depend on me for their survival.  My launch dates aren't as
critical as theirs either.

Nothing that winning a lottery wouldn't cure.  ;-)
