Wide-band CDMA is currently under testing in Japan and will soon be
rolled out to other parts of the world. Initially it will support
384kbps Data transfer over the air and eventually it will reach the
designed limit of 2Mbps. That's 2Mbps for each user. They have bold
plans for such bandwidth, can you say "video-conferencing"?

The GSM consortium is planning a new standard to fight W-CDMA, how it
would turn out, it's anyone's guess.
