I got the impression that there was some immaturity at play here. I missed,
it appears, a whole lot of the discussion. What I posted was meant to point
out that some states do have a provision that permits commissioning of
security guards. KY, prohibited the use of the word POLICE by these sworn
security guards but they were, at times, a pain in the butt. I remember at
one time buying a .22 pistol from a security guard of Metro Special Police
headquarted in West Paducah while I worked a college simmer job there. This
guy was a certifiable nut and I bought the junker because I knew he would not
be able to replace it.
The company was run and owned by a Marube DI who was a DS and a year later
the Sheriff. His company got there name grandfathered in with all badges
having POLICE on them whether the officer was sworn or not. As I recall he
had only about 6 sworn under SLOPOAsp?
Heath High was in McCracken County and SO was small w/ me the midnight shift
in 78 and low crime . Heath would be the last of the three HS that I woul
have expected this incident. The area was in general the "High end" of
ounty
end of the county where lawyers and professionls lived. I lived in Concord a
couple miles closer to city.
It was never a problem area.
Some background of Carneal fmily
The news coverage you have seen is accurate as far as the "forgiveness and
acceptance"
I served a lot of paper for JT Carneal, a prominent local lawyer. The boys
sister is in line for valedictorian of Heath HS and in general the incident
is considered an aberration to this most secluded part of KY, a place of
close knit fmilies. If I could have made a decent living there I would still
be there and now that I can live anywhere return of family is probable when
kids reach college age... and YES it is that nice...
