Hey Perry: Hope you had the battens boarded down? I just finished watching a TV program on CBC Newsworld called Hot Type on June 15. They were covering two books, by a mother and a daughter named Eustacia Cutler, and Temple Grandin. Mom's book is called A Thorn In My Pocket, for reasons you wouldn't think, and I missed the daughters title. Here's the rub. Temple is a "high functioning" Autistic gal about Rod's age, that now works as a livestock consultant, and designs defacto systems to humanely and calmly deliver cattle for slaughter. (McDonald's were among the first to insist on using her designs because the BEEF TASTED BETTER!) I thought of you and Rod immediately for a few reasons. Obviously the condition, but more so for the mothers descriptions, and tribulations she faced on her journey, and *mostly* for Temple's description of how she was forging through her life. I thought her insights, and brutal honesty were fantastic. Guaranteed, their situations are inevitably different than yours, but it was immensely interesting to me. If you have a chance, I'd love to hear what you think of the information on the program or in the books. If you can get to the CBC website, they should have transcriptions available online, or at least unedited interviews. ...
