I understand your perspective... but having been on both sides of the
coin (pun intended) I can only say whomever has earned the money and
has become a prospective benefactor should have a right to decided how
their "gift" should be spent. I wouldn't expect a vegetarian to
supply an indingent with dead cow parts, nor would I fault an avid
teetotaler to carry the emotional burden of having supplied a wino
with their juice.
Lotta scams out there... however, once the money has changed hands
then that should be the end of it. I don't have those restrictions
when I occasionally pass out spare change (which is never really
spare.) I've been aware for too long that most of the legitimate
homeless have some bonefide need for some type of crutch to help them
get through their torment every day.
