Uh huh! I've learned this one over the years managing
people.
IN fact, anybody we hire directly, not union crew hired by
the venue, but hired by us gets to understand a few things
right off, first those two.
Then the next thing i emphasize is:
You will not patch in anybody else's equipment to ours
without clearing it with us. I've known folks to make
bootleg tapes of acts we did sound for by hooking up an
illicit recorder, or, in the case of a remote truck like
ours, just patching into the outputs on the side of the
truck which would usually feed sound to a satellite uplink
truck or something similar.
Still, damage to company property, or the employer's was
always grounds for immediate termination where I come from.

This doesn't surprise me either. I think you and I were
talking about this on the phone the other day when I
asserted that most folks with this networked broadband
systems have more capability than they're equipped to
understand. THese folks think since they can do it at home
there's no reason why they can't at work.
ml> i really hate to educate the ignorant... not! well... yeah...
ml> maybe... no... not!!
YEah I do too, but it's gotta be done, and somebody's gotta
do it. I get frustrated, but I'm quick to point out that
actions while on the job have consequences, and if you don't understand
those consequences, well, too bad for you.
There's a guy doesn't get hired by me anymore because
although he's got a good driving record and a cdl last time
he drove my audio truck he ran over the railroad ties beside my driveway
and damaged the drop box below the truck bed
which houses the electrical distro system. He's called a
couple of times knowing I had a job upcoming wondering if
I'd hire him too. .
Regards,
Richard
