Well, I do remember at one time he had completely shut down fidotel, and
then much to my surprise he brought it back online, and one time I think
he had some hardware problems and/or replaced/upgraded then it seemed to
just not exist anymore

okay, I just pinged fidotel.com and got a static ip of 71.170.28.18 but
I tried to telnet to bbs.fidotel.com and fidotel.com and no joy, then
tried my (linux) lynx http browser to fidotel.com and no joy there
either.

I'll try a whois

comes back to a Larry Talley in Virginia Beach VA, I do seem to remember
the sysop's name being Shannon Talley.

At any rate, nothing seems to be up and running now, but it does ping
and returns the whois info.
